Immanuel’s Crossing-This painting depicts the season of Christmas. It pictures a stained glass window church and homes decorated for Christmas.
Three days after I painted the mountain peak, I noticed a cross on the mountain ridge under the moon. For this reason, I named the painting Immanuel’s Crossing, which celebrates the birth of Jesus. Just above the steeple in the clouds, you will also notice a crown, for Jesus came as both Lord and King.
A friend of mine noticed that the cloud on the left side had the finger of God pointing toward the crown and the cross, as if to say, “Look to my Son, He’s King of kings and Lord of lords.” I remember wanting to make it more round after painting it, and then hearing the Lord say, “Leave it, for clouds come in all shapes and sizes.” So I immediately moved my hand away and left it.
