David Woods started in ministry when he was 12 years old with his family ministry called, “The Woods Kids” singing ministry. His mentors included; Nora Lam, Nancy Harmon, Ralph Wilkerson, and many others. He was reared in ministry. By the time he was 13 he had ministered in over 20 nations including smuggling Bibles into China. Over the years many men and women of God helped shape the way the ministry is today. He ministered with his family at a young age singing and preaching in meetings both small and large. Whatever the Lord would open for his family, they would step through in faith. Today David Woods is the founder of Word for the World Church in Portland, Oregon. Word for the World Church was born out of a one year revival. 365 nights of preaching, singing and praying for the needs of a documented 15,000 people who came through the doors to see what was on fire. That revival birthed 4 churches, Word for the World being one of the four. Although Word for the World is not affiliated with any denomination, an executive board consisting of Christian men and women give oversight on a quarterly basis as the ministries spiritual covering. They travel 40 weeks out of the year ministering to churches world-wide, produce a thirty minute television program called, “Release your Faith”, and pastor the church. When they are ministering abroad, several retired ministers of like faith enjoy filling in for them. Although their congregation in Portland today is small in numbers, they are a powerful prayer support for the ministry.
